The homeowner reported having a bad odor coming up to the first floor via the crawlspace as well as cold floors. After scheduling a free estimate we sent out an informative book titled “Crawlspace Science” for free to review in the few days between scheduling and the actual appointment. This gave the client a good understanding of the situation and allowed him to form specific questions for our inspector.
After arriving, the client had an idea of what he wanted and our inspector, Mr. Brian McWhirter, showed how Keystone Basement Systems could help accomplish this goal.
The client had a crawlspace which was not encapsulated. This is a very big problem and can lead to a host of negative outcomes. The plan was a proper crawlspace encapsulation.
The project was large. A typical crawlspace encapsulation takes one day, but this one took 3 to complete. That said, once it was complete, it was marvelous. Not only does it look clean, but it is well insulate and protects against mold, moisture, water and odor.
This basement's high moisture content rusted the metal support beam. As a result of the corrosion, the beam was weakened and the floors above were not supported adequately. Our permanent solution to this problem was to remove the beam and replace it with our corrosion resistant SmartJack Support Post System.
Concerned about air quality and allergens, this Fairmont homeowner wanted to make their crawl space part of the solution—not the problem. Our team installed CleanSpace, sealed vents, and set up a SaniDry Sedona to manage humidity. Now, the crawl space supports a healthy environment in the entire home, not just below it. The homeowner feels better knowing their air is cleaner and their home is protected.
Cold floors and damp conditions had this Fairmont homeowner worried about energy loss and crawl space damage. Our solution started from the ground up with TerraBlock insulation and drainage matting. This not only helped insulate the crawl space but also protected it from ground moisture and standing water. The end result was a warmer, better-insulated home—and a crawl space built to last.
In Fairmont, WV, one homeowner was tired of chilly floors and rising energy bills. Their crawl space had no insulation and wasn’t doing their home any favors. We lined the walls with SilverGlo insulation, creating a continuous thermal barrier. Now, the home is more comfortable year-round and energy costs are under control.
