Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Waterproofing a cracked basement in White, Pa.
Paul and Jessica called Keystone Basement Systems after seeing them at the Fayette county fair, they had some water pooling in their basement and needed the help of a professional. Keystone sent out one of their field inspectors to sit down with this couple and discuss the problem and inspect the issue at hand to devise a plan to get it fixed. The field inspector got right to work after talking to this couple, he now knew how urgent it was to get this diagnosed and fixed. The field inspector took all the exact measurements needed for this plan, as well as performed all the proper moisture tests, and even installed a crack monitor to help get a better feel for the shifting and moving this house was doing. The walls move due to the settlement of the ground, among other various reasons, so the crack monitor is left in place for some time to measure those movements. The field inspector wrapped up his inspection by taking pictures of the problem area to attach to the installation folder. The field inspector then went back upstairs and explained his findings as well as the plan to get it all fixed. The plan was to install an internal french drain and a service port. The plan also included a wall wash and an anti-microbial spray for the mold that he discovered. The last thing on the list of the plans was to do some pointing in the cracks of the basement wall as well as installing 2 carbon fiber straps to ensure the structural disposition of this home. Upon completion of their talk the field inspector then returned to the office to schedule this home for installation.
The foreman and his crew showed up promptly on installation day and very quickly got right to work. The crew installed the internal drain with the service port inside first. The foreman and his crew then installed the carbon fiber straps and sprayed the walls with the anti-microbial spray. Upon finishing these tasks the crew cleaned up while the foreman went over everything with the homeowners. Paul and Jessica were very pleased with the results of this project.
