Wet Basement Solution in Pittsburgh, PA

A Pittsburgh, PA homeowner was experiencing water problems in their basement after every rainstorm. Our team inspected the home after contacting us for a free estimate, and we found that the water was coming in through the old stone walls. In order to solve this problem permanently, we installed our WaterGuard around the basement floor perimeter, a CleanSpace Vapor Barrier on the walls to keep moisture out, a TripleSafe Sump Pump to drain the water from the drainage system out of the home, and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to keep the air dry.

Foundation Wall Support in Pittsburgh, PA

Outside pressure from soil and water pressing against a Pittsburgh, PA home caused it to bow inward and create open cracks for water intrusion. To permanently stabilize the wall, we used steel I-beams, the PowerBrace System, with the potential to straighten it over time. This provided a strong and permanent solution to repair the wall and prevent any further damage.

Excessive Moisture in Basement Resulted In Uneven Floors in Pittsburgh, PA

Keystone Basement Systems was contacted by this Pittsburgh, PA customer looking for foundation stabilization assistance. The floors above their basement were unlevel due to corroded support posts caused by high moisture levels. To permanently solve these issues, a free inspection was scheduled.

With the installation of the SmartJack Support Post System and corrosion-resistant steel supplemental beams, the existing posts were replaced with permanent support and stabilization. The SmartJack System consists of adjustable steel posts and brackets that are designed to lift and support sagging floor joists. The installation of the system also helps to ensure that the structure remains safe and secure. Additionally, the steel beams provide additional support and stability for the structure. It now gives the customer peace of mind knowing that their structure is stable and their floors are level.

Back in town and found cracks

The homeowners called into Keystone Basement Systems after finding us on Google. They came back in town to find their now vacant rental property had a issue with the door opening and closing properly. Upon further inspection of their house they found cracks in the walls in the basement. Keystone Basement Systems sent out one of their best field inspectors to sit down with the homeowner discuss the problem and then further inspect the issue himself and come up with a plan of action to fix it. The field inspector came up with the plan of using 2 CarbonArmor straps and 3 underpins to not only fix the issue but to hold the wall together and prevent it from deteriorating any further. The CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcing System is a state-of-the-art solution for bowing and cracking foundation walls. Using the same technology the Army Corps of Engineers developed to reinforce bomb shelters, skyscrapers, and bridges, we use CarbonArmor® to stabilize your basement walls. After reviewing his plan with the homeowner in fine detail Keystone sent out one of its best crews to install the straps and fill in anything they saw with Crackpoint.

Please don't mess up my new bathroom

This homeowner heard about Keystone Basement Systems through his mother who raved about how great we did, and by the end result he told his friend who also called us!! The homeowner informed us he had just put a new bathroom in and it was getting wet but only because it was in the basement that was taking on water. The homeowner also had concerns that if we fixed it that his new bathroom would be "safe" from any kind of construction. Keystone knew just who to send out .Keystone sent out field inspector Brian McWhirter, he has an outstanding knack for being able to figure out how to do exactly what the customer requests. Brian and the homeowner sat down and discussed the problem and how important it was to them to have it fixed WITHOUT disturbing the new bathroom. Brian then inspected the problem, and took some great pictures for the installers, with notes!!  Brian and the homeowner sat down and went out his analogy and the plan on what to do, in fine detail, reassuring the homeowner of the fact that Keystone could do the job without doing anything to his new bathroom. Brian came up with the plan to install a new drainage system, a TripleSafe Sump Pump and WaterGuard and all by doing so by tunneling the shower and not hurting anything in the bathroom. The homeowners were extremely happy with the end result.

Waterproofing in Penn Hills, PA

A resident in Penn Hills, PA was experiencing water coming into their basement walls and floors during heavy rainfall. The cause of this issue is loose soil that is used to fill the hole around the foundation. Over time, this soil settles and becomes saturated during periods of heavy rainfall. This weight of saturated soil puts hydrostatic pressure on the walls, causing water to seep in. Dry weather is also a part of the problem during periods of drought. The soil can shrink away from the foundation when it is dried up, leaving voids for the next rain to easily flow down into the basement. There are many negative effects of a damp basement such as smelly damp carpets, condensation, mold, and increased heating and cooling bills.

PowerBraces in Carrick, PA

Popular in the Pittsburgh Area are coal cellars, root cellars, and unconditioned rooms under front porches. In this case, Chris Baliey found the left wall, although small was pushed to a large degree. He knew we had a fix for that!

Foreman, Austin Stone installed 2 PowerBraces in short order. The precision of his work and the quality products we use will allow for a more solid foundation. Now this cellar can be used safely again.

Waterproofing and CleanSpace in Greentree. PA

Corey called us with water coming through the walls of his basement and mold slowly creeping up from the floor. he was concerned about the long term effects of the water and mold and wanted his basement to be dry, safe, and more pleasant to look at. We sent our system design specialist Chris Bailey out to do a full inspection of the house and determine the cause of the problem as well as create a custom solution.

With water entering the walls at both high and low points, as well as the cove (where the walls meet the floor), Chris determined that a full perimeter waterproofing system was needed in order to provide complete protection. This included the WaterGuard below-floor drain system to collect the water and a sump pump to actively discharge the water collected.

CarbonArmor Saves Wall in Etna, PA

Chris Bailey came up with a plan that included horizontal straps across the top of the wall that did not have a viable top attachment. Most companies would have just installed the supports without a proper top attachment because they would not have spent the time to come up with an alternative plan to PROPERLY protect the customer’s home. Chris Layne opened that wall to find that we had a situation even worse than previously thought. A bad company/foreman would either walk away or maybe continue on without thought for the integrity of the structure. Chris knew what he was looking at and made the only responsible choice which was to WAIT! He knew that to properly fix a wall this bad, it required a special support structure that had to be installed first. This was not part of the original plan as we did not know how bad the wall was behind the finished wall. Chris and his team lost an entire day of productivity waiting for Chuck Morrison who dropped everything once he heard about the issue and drove the KBS braces out to Chris to properly brace the wall. Chris and his crew were able to brace the wall finally by the end of the first day. They got started on the repairs on day two which meant the job would run long and so he worked through the weekend to make sure he did not fall behind with other customers and ruin their plans! The end result is a proper solution that protects that customer’s most prized non human possession.

Dehumidifier for Damp Basement in Pittsburgh, PA

This client called our office because they had a wet basement and high humidity.  There was a musty smell in the basement and they also had a moldy smell.  The point of water penetration in the basement was not obvious at first.  Our office sent out Mr. Jeff Martello to determine the issue as he has a vast diagnostic knowledge and capability.

After Jeff listened to the needs of the customer he performed his inspection and fund that the water penetration was coming under a bench and drawer fixture.  The wood was rotting and producing the musty and moldy smell.  He designed a system to address the needs of the home and the homeowner hired Keystone to fix the issue.

Crew Foreman Juan Pantojas III and Co-Foreman Scott Booth installed the system and solved the issue using WaterGuard and a Sedona High Performance Dehumidifier.
